Arts Richmond will coordinate the borough’s open studios festival, Art House, for 2023.
The festival gives visitors a chance to explore our artistic community and engage with artists, designers & makers from all corners of the borough.

Peter will be available to offer large format formal portraits using his extraordinary handmade Cameraeccentrica – employing lens and image processing technology harking back to the Victorian period. £25 for an individual portrait on photographic paper. Saturdays 11am - 12pm: Roz will be demonstrating how to hand build sculptural cloud vases.
Saturdays 3pm - 5pm: Roz will be giving 1:1 tutorials on hand throwing cups, vases and jugs on the potters wheel.

Tess is a landscape artist who paints to capture and evoke the connection she feels and remembers from observing the sky, weather and shifting light whilst exploring nature. During Art House Open Studios, see one of Tess’ locally inspired oil paintings in progress and the techniques, resources, sketches and notes used to inspire and create in a studio environment. Tess will be available on 16th and 23rd July.
Alex is an acclaimed abstract and figurative sculptor whose innovative public space works are well known in his native country Ukraine. After having had his studio in Kyiv destroyed in the early hours of the Russian invasion, Alex has chosen the UK to continue his work. Alex will be available during the festival to discuss his work and experiences. No booking necessary.
Mark Vellacott is a portrait sculptor who is currently redeveloping 197 Waldegrave Road into a gallery & studio creative hub for local & national artists. Mark will be running two fun mini-Gargoyle portrait workshops for ten people age 8+ on Sunday 17th & 23rd July. from 10am - 12pm. £20pp including materials, borrowing tools, and firing of the finished work. Mark will also be giving a demonstration of the use of 3D scanning to assist the development of a portrait sculpture, on 23rd July, 2pm - 4pm. Bookings for workshops can be made via Instagram DM to @the_beach_197 .
One hour ‘Play with Clay’ taster session making by hand for adults and/or children aged 6+ (adult in attendance please), at Sheen Pottery. £10pp. Also come and watch wheel throwing demonstrations by an expert potter throughout the day (no charge). Pot handling sessions and talks about British studio ceramics.

15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd July:
Mixed media artist Laura Parker will host a brief demonstration of her process each day at 3pm, including showing some of the unexpected tools that she uses to create her art, and will talk about her shift from realistic, figurative works to more abstract art over the past few years. No booking necessary.
