Retirement
What is retirement to you and me?
Has working life come to an end?
Maybe, a works and state pension too
Do you have tidy savings to spend?
Most have worked for around fifty years
And many will continue part-time
The grey matter still needs refreshing
There's no mountain we can't climb
Many will just potter around at home
Cleaning out the loft, gardening or DIY
At first, it's strange not going to work
Where our time most certainly did fly
Some are lucky and can retire early
As good fortune allows them to do so
For others it may be forced on them
For reasons which only they know
You might want to travel far and wide
Or ,simply, go on a relaxing cruise
The world is your oyster to explore
So many destinations you can choose
Are you with family and a grand-parent
Or growing older with a pet or alone?
You have more time to communicate
Whether by social media or telephone
Never take your retirement for granted
So many, sadly ,never live that long
Enjoy every minute and stay healthy
Life is short and sweet, I'm not wrong
