Richmond Opera is a group of musicians based in West London, dedicated to performing opera with an emphasis on baroque opera. Our members include singers, dancers, instrumentalists and production staff. We are an amateur group, led and tutored by professionals. We stage an annual opera production and also hold study days and concerts of Baroque music.
2022 marks the 20th anniversary of this group, already joyfully buoyed up by audience reactions to their recent 'Dragon of Wantley'. Rehearsals will begin from 19th January leading to an anniversary concert in May of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (semi-staged) and the joyful Bach Magnificat in D. Details will be on the website (richmondopera.org.uk). And given the number of solo roles, the usual policy of recruiting soloists from current Richmond Opera singers will be applied flexibly, and new applicants are encouraged.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org to express interest, with auditions being scheduled for 12th January. And to round off this anniversary year, in November Richmond Opera plan to give a fully-staged performance of Saul, filled with Handel's wonderful music!
