The Opera Prelude
Founded by volunteers in 2010, Opera Prelude presents critically acclaimed and exciting lecture recitals, workshops, masterclasses, concerts and rare or rediscovered operas in historic and prestigious locations in London and Oxfordshire. A small charity, passionate about bringing opera to new audiences, our events form a bridge across the footlights, introducing you to our young singers and their wonderful, enriching world. We aim to support the early career development of young artists, showcasing their talents and advocating for them, whilst advancing the understanding and accessibility of opera.
We believe that opera is for everyone, whether seasoned aficionados or absolute newcomers, and our mission is to open access to this thrilling art form. We are delighted and grateful to be supported by Age Unlimited in our intergenerational programme 'See Golden Days', performing free admission concerts for almost 500 care home residents a year. Age Unlimited work tirelessly for the benefit of both young and old, and we are privileged to partner with them in this important work. Our work would not be possible without our friends and supporters, who are a vital part of our story.
