  • 30 November -0001 - 31 August 2020Visual Arts/Film

This exhibition is a new series art created during lockdown that explores the themes of repetition, meditation and contemplation

The artwork consists of many thousands of shredded pieces. Some include photoluminescent pigments that have been an ongoing interest for the artist. Digital pixels in appearance but very much an analogue creative process.

The practice of destroying something to be able to create something runs through the series.

Visitors are invited to bring their own papers, photos and documents that can be shredded at the exhibition for the artist to use in future artworks. A symbolic act to let go of something that they no longer want in their life that takes on a new life.

A passion for making art was awakened whilst studying counselling and psychotherapy. Mr Mr Pearce has attended the Richmond School of Painting and also numerous courses run by the Slade School of Fine Art during their annual summer school, including their Foundation course.

Artistic influences include Lee Krasner and Briget Riley. Other influences include psychotherapy, in particular the archetypes of Jung and Assagioli's inclusion of spirituality into his theories of the human psyche. Optical illusions, psychedelia, electronic music and the repetition of minimal classical music also have an influence.

Exhibition is open (but gates are closed)

Due to COVID we are restricting the numbers of people this weekend for everyone’s safety. Therefore, the gates will be kept closed this weekend while the exhibition is on.

    At the Ghostlight

There is no Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year so no trip north of the border for us.  However, our venue, The Space UK is holding its own online version of the Fringe with 80+ shows going live from 10am on Saturday August 8th

Our "show" is a short piece, written specially for the event by J.J. Leppink.  "At the Ghostlight" is set in a closed theatre.  Noone is about except the theatre ghosts who have seen it all before.  Join us to eavesdrop on the conversation between music hall diva Nelly Power and Shakespeare's clown Will Kemp as they discuss life, their worlds and a nice cup of tea!

The show can be seen from  10am on Saturday 8th August  online.thespaceuk.com

It is free to view but there is a donation button that we hope will help us to recoup some of this year's Fringe cancellation costs.

TCS Virtual performance; Lacrimosa, Mozart Requiem

Unfortunately due to the general situation Teddington Choral Society had to cancel and postpone its Spring and Summer concerts and suspend its weekly rehearsals. But the choir has organized itself to allow the singers to continue practicing their repertoire and to maintain a strong connection.

We have arranged a weekly project which gives the opportunity to the singers to sign up, record themselves and share their recordings so that we can create a virtual choir performance.

We have been extremely fortunate to have the support of our amazing IT specialist (Seamus, son of our Chairperson) who spent hours editing and mixing the final project.

We are also very thankful with the singers who have taken the courage to participate to these projects.

We also had a very good feedback from the singers who did not participate but enjoyed listening and watching the performances.

The Virtual Performance is a new entry in our range of activities and based on the members enthusiasm and the end results we will definitely continue experimenting it.
