      The River Girl

Wendy Cope’s poem The River Girl takes us into the profoundly uncomfortable territory of male artists and the treatment of their female partners. Exposed in many a biography of writers, artists and actors is a partner whose personality is subordinate to that of the “star”. Wendy Cope uses a mixture of humour and irony to chart the course of one such relationship between a poet and his lover. Using the distinctive marionettes and the intimate atmosphere of the Puppet Theatre Barge, the company creates a unique theatrical event.

      Suitable for adults.

      September 2, 8** & 9, 15 & 16, 22 & 23, 29 & 30 at 7.30pm (** captioned performance)

      Strictly Murder

Provence. April 1939. English couple, Peter and Suzy, are living in idyllic isolation; far, it seems from the rumblings of the oncoming war. Their peace is suddenly shattered by a stranger from Peter's past who unearths secrets from a buried and hidden life, which throws Suzy's world into turmoil.

In a world where the Third Reich is emerging as a dangerous regime, deceit, lies and subterfuge make this fast paced thriller a dark and nail-biting rollercoaster. Strictly Murder stars Brian Capron (Coronation Street, Where the Heart Is, Grange Hill, Celebrity Masterchef), Corrinne Wicks (Doctors, Emmerdale) and Gary Turner (Emmerdale).
