Teddington Summer Music's first concert features two fo the most richly expressive and best-loved works in the chamber music repertoire.  Dvorak's American String Quartet was written during an extended stay in the Unites States, shortly after the completion of his New World Symphony.  It abounds in melody and good humour, reflecting the composer's personal happiness at that time.

After more than 200 years, Mozart's Clarinet Quintet remains one of the greatest works for this combination of instruments, and the endlessly inventive musical ideas and changing moods after a life-affirming experience. The programme begins with Baermann's gloriously serene Adagio for clarinet and strings.

The musicians will be Madeleine Michell, Gordon Mackay, Kate Musker, Joseph Spooner and Tony Lamb

Capriccio - 16 June at 7.30pm

Normansfield Theatre

16 June 2019
19:30

Sunday 16 June at 7.30pm

Tickets: £16 and £14 (for concessions)

Teddington Summer Music are performing their second concert of light-hearted enjoyment.  After a new and specially composed arrangement by Tom Higgs of the Emperor Waltz by Johann Strauss II comes Stanford's Serenade in F - a masterly work combining lyricism with irrevelent humour (the 2nd movement variations are based on a cheeky motif from Till Eulenspiegel) and sheer ebullience.  Jean Francaix's Dixtuor is typically French in its lightness of touch and witty interplay between the instruments, while the evening is rounded off with some of offenbach's most catchy and exhilarating tunes.

Performed by The London Dvorak Ensemble.

Conductor: Tom Higgins
