List of forthcoming events for Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra:
22 March 2020 -
The first of Stoneleigh's two 75th Anniversary Concerts will open with Janacek’s Sinfonietta - quite simply one of the most exciting works to hear live in the concert hall. The concert will close with Respighi’s Pines of Rome, with its final movement depicting Roman legions marching into the city along the Appian Way.
In between these two works, we are delighted to welcome internationally renowned soprano and Stoneleigh alumna Susan Gritton, who will join us as soloist in Ravel’s song cycle Scheherazade. Our Training Orchestra will also be taking part in the concert, playing works by Mozart, Nielsen and Bizet.
Tickets £20/£15/£10 from the Cadogan Hall box office (cadoganhall.com)

75th Anniversary Concert
Queen Elizabeth Hall

Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra returns to the Queen Elizabeth Hall for a celebratory concert to round off their 75th Anniversary Season. The orchestra is performing Brahms’ Tragic Overture and Sibelius' 2nd Symphony under the baton of Musical Director Robert Hodge. They are joined by star violinist and regular SYO soloist Joo Yeon Sir to perform Wieniawski’s sparkling 1st Concerto. The Training Orchestra and their conductor Dan Shilladay perform music by Beethoven and the March from Elgar’s second Wand of Youth suite. We also welcome back past players from across the years - many of whom have gone on to work with some of Europe's leading ensembles - to a specially formed Alumni Orchestra to play Elgar’s Cockaigne overture, conducted by former Musical Director Adrian Brown.
