Richmond Writer's Circle
A long established and informal gathering of people who write seriously and who want to learn and test their work by sharing it with other writers.
Those who come include poets, writers of short stories and longer fiction, and memoirs. A wide range of genres is usually represented. Discussions can be vigorous but are conducted in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
The meetings are held on a weekly basis throughout the year except for a summer and Christmas break.
Two competitions are held, one in honour of St Valentine in February, and the other to enjoy the thrill of Halloween.
Some are regulars, some drop in, but all may read if they wish for about ten minutes and receive feedback. The meetings are held between 8.00pm and 10.00pm in the Old Parish Rooms above the Buvette restaurant in the centre of Richmond-just by the parish church. A contribution of £4.00 is expected on each occasion to meet the expense of the meeting room.
