Mark Aspen Reviews
Mark Aspen Reviews is a free on-line arts review service, concentrating mainly on the Richmond-upon-Thames area, although its performing arts coverage extends into London, Surrey and Hampshire and occasionally further afield. Its unique concentration on performance in the London Borough of Richmond recognises the wealth of arts in the local area. It covers not only professional and fringe productions, but also the myriad club theatre and high-quality amateur productions that abound here.
The website of Mark Aspen Reviews brings together review and comment by a team of over two dozen experienced and knowledgeable critics. It focuses on stage works, opera, drama, musicals and ballet and performance works such as music, spoken poetry and literature discussions. Also to be found on this site are occasional musings about the state of modern theatre and readers’ comments are welcome to round out the topics exposed.
The ethos of Mark Aspen is to provide high quality and well written reviews by critics who know their subjects and can write about them in an entertaining and informed way. Mark Aspen believes that a review should aim to be a thought-provoking literary work in its own right.
Mark Aspen Reviews works in association with a number of other publications, such as The Twickenham and Richmond Tribune, a local on-line newspaper, where precis of its items are published weekly.
Requests for reviews are welcome and are encouraged.
