Sharing Shakespeare - Shakespeare in Italy
Shakespeare in Italy is a charity dedicated to advancing the arts, specifically drama, for the benefit of all.
Our aim is to enliven the experience of Shakespeare’s Italian plays with an exciting mix of British realism and Italian intensity to share with everyone.
The new company will explore this through performances in the UK, Italy and beyond, as well as via a programme of education and outreach in schools, community centres, prisons and theatres.
Our first production will be in September - a new small scale version of the original text called 'A Merchant of Venice' adapted and directed by RSC Honorary Associate Artist Bill Alexander. It will be at The Playground Theatre, Latimer Road, W10 6RQ in North Kensington.
Bill is leading a Masterclass with former Drama Studio students on March 2nd from 2 - 4.30 with the last half hour for questions at The Playground Theatre.

We are running our 6th international summer school this year in beautiful Cagli theatre in Marche on the Adriatic side of Italy from June 26 - July 4th. Dame Janet Suzman will lead 3 days on As You Like It and Emma Lucia Hands will run the module on A Midsummer Night's Dream. There is just one place left for those that love the theatre, acting, Shakespeare and of course, Italy - it has been very popular. Please see Education - Summer School on our website for the pdf with details.
Two former Royal Shakespeare Company actors, Julian Curry and Mary Chater in association with the Italian theatre manager, Sandro Pascucci, founded the company which is managed by a board of Trustees. Our patrons are Ralph Fiennes, Ian McKellen and Judi Dench.
