Wagner’s Flying Dutchman contains some of his most romantic, riveting and beautiful music.   It is also one of Wagner’s shortest operas at just under 2 hours and 20 minutes.  In a remote Scottish village in late 1880s, Captain Daland’s daughter, Senta, has been having visions of a ghostly stranger, the Flying Dutchman, whom she is destined to redeem from the most vicious eternal curse.  Her father brings the Dutchman to their house – will Senta’s visions come true?  The opera will be performed in the beautiful Normansfield Theatre - a perfect atmospheric venue for a Victorian ghost story.
